The much-anticipated staging of the second annual Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) fund-raising activity, 'Sunshine Evening', will now be held at the Campion College Auditorium on Friday, July 2.

The event was postponed last month because of the civil unrest in Tivoli Gardens and the state of emergency which followed.

Marva Bernard, president of the JNA, told The Gleaner yesterday, that all is now in place for the mid-year affair and that they are looking forward to an exciting event.

Bernard is also urging corporate Jamaica to come out and support the national senior team, affectionately called the 'Sunshine Girls' on their journey to next year's World Championships, which will be held in Singapore.

Aim

"The aim of this is to support the Sunshine Girls on their World Championships journey for 2011 because it is going to cost us over nine million dollars to get there and so we are starting from now to raise funds to assist in their preparations for tournament," said Bernard.

"All the tickets that were purchase before (the postponement) are still valid for this date," she said. "We are always trying to be self-reliant and so this is the reason why we are starting from now to do this and we are really asking Jamaica to come out and support us," Bernard added.

Cultural reggae artiste Etana, along with Tami Chynn, will be the main performers for the evening. There will also be a fashion show which will involve the members of the Sunshine Girls team.

The main gate prize for the event, will be a trip for two to London on Virgin Atlantic and second prize will be a weekend for two at FDR Pebbles hotel. There will also be a lot of other prizes and surprises for the persons attending the event.

The cost for the tickets is $2,000 and they can be purchase at the JNA office at the National Arena in Kingston.
