World Cup comes to New Kgn

It's probably the best place to catch the 'Greatest show on Earth'. unless, of course, you're watching the FIFA World Cup live in South Africa.
A massive 215" HDTV-ready screen, which is flanked by a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy and the Jabulani ball, along with all the amenities one can desire - including choice alcoholic beverage - are just some of the things on offer at the soon-to-be opened 'Sportsmax Zone', a premier World Cup village, located at the former Super Plus building along Trafalgar Road in New Kingston.
Upon entry, patrons will be greeted by a pair of hostesses, and not too far away, a massive titanium-coloured wet bar.
The entire space oozes with excitement and football fanfare with the flags of the 32 competing nations as well as a colourful spread of red, blue and white drapes adorning the ceiling while multi-hued lighting fixtures flicker in exciting radiance.
The walls are lined with a number of booths boasting a wide range of activities and services, from Digicel's one-stop outlet (also the providers of free wifi), to Advantage General's mini-stadium booth-fitted with bleacher seating and all. There is a Justbet gaming shop for the waging public as well as massage centre from Voltaren. Besides outfitting the entire space with furniture, Courts provides a gaming booth for those who wish to take their football fever to the video-gaming scene, and Locker Room Sports are also on hand with their range of sporting goods.
Sportsmax and their partners have gone all out to provide the perfect environment for football fans and those who are just looking for an exciting place to lyme; the only problem is that the public won't be able to enjoy the space until its official opening on June 22.
Unveiling
Tanya Lee, Sportmax's regional marketing manager, was elated to finally see the unveiling of the project, which took a number of weeks to put together. Lee is excited about the outcome and is encouraging fans to make the most of the opportunity.
"We have managed to create the ultimate sporting experience for the World Cup, this is the hub for the FIFA World Cup in Jamaica," boasted Lee. "It's the only high-definition feed in Jamaica and we are very proud to bring it to the public, and we hope people will come out in their droves and get a chance to experience this truly amazing experience."
Lee added that daily entertainment will be provided by the Renaissance sound system and a number of top entertainers.
As it relates to entrance cost, patrons will be allowed inside the venue without charge, for now, but that could change, depending on the whether or not a crowd control issue arises.
"It's (entry) free, maybe it's something we may have to revisit down the line, it depends on whether or not we have problems with crowd control," Lee pointed out.
The Sportsmax Zone will open its doors at 8 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. on Mondays through to Thursdays, with an extra hour added to the closing time on weekends.
