The Gleaner will, over the course of the next two weeks, be acquainting our readers with the contestants in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's Festival Song Competition. Look out for it!

Amique & Nazzle Man

Song Title: "One Heart"

Christopher Herlington or Amique, as he is better known, always had music around him; he started singing in his church's children's choir and in the choir at his primary school.

He was the child star of every concert in his community. Starting out as a Deejay, he soon switched to Rap music and helped to form FreeStyle Playaz with some other guys from his community.

Amique credits musical veterans Cutty Ranks and Beres Hammond for his interest in and much of his knowledge of music. He has also done some major shows with artistes such as Beenie man, Eamon, Timberland and Luciano, just to name a few.

Recently, Amique has been doing a lot of work in advertising, having worked with Grub Cooper on commercials such as Grace Tropical Rhythms and Crazy Jim.

Versatile singer

O'Neil Scott or "Nazzle Man" attended the Norman Manley Comprehensive High School and started his musical career at the age of 13.

A songwriter, versatile singer and dancehall DJ with strong lyrical content, wicked melodies and fresh delivery, Nazzle Man is a force to be reckoned with within the music industry.

His major performances to date include Reggae Sumfest, Sting, Jamaica Independence in Washington, DC, and he is presently working on his first album.

Amique and Nazzle Man came together to record "One Heart" after a songwriter, Andrene Francis, who lives in Canada, sought the service of Grubb Cooper to produce the entry in the 2010 Festival Song Competition. They both hope that their song will act as healing for the nation.
