Sea Devil is a Super-6 banker

Both the Pick-9 and Super-6 start anew at Caymanas Park tomorrow, the Pick-9 having been caught by one lucky punter who walked away with a cool $1 million.

It was surprising to learn that only one punter was able to spot all nine winners, as there were no upsets on the 10-race programme.

The Pick-9 will embrace all nine races, while the Super-6 will be conducted from the fourth to the ninth. We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a restricted allowance race (non-winners of three) over 1200 metres, which has a very competitive look about it.

Horses such as SIR JAADU BABA, SKY FORCE, ESTO PERPETUA, REGGAE PRINCESS and RHOSA KLEBB could all be conceded chances and I would implore punters to play it safe in this race by using multiple choices.

With the speedsters ESTO PERPETUA, REGGAE PRINCESS and RHOSA KLEBB expected to carry the field at a fast clip into the race, this should set it up nicely for the stretch-running SIR JAADU BABA, who looks tempting at the weights with only 51.0kg and in-form lightweight apprentice Richard Cole aboard.

CRUISER, a late-kicking sort, was a beaten favourite last Saturday when finishing second to the front-running ERGASIA over 1600 metres, and given the longer distance of the fifth race over 1820 metres, should make no mistake.

The maiden three-year-old colt from the stables of Richie Phillipps has run some good races in defeat against horses such as OVATION and CUE SEVEN. He should release the maiden certificate at the expense of EVER BLESSED and CHADHALIA in a field of seven.

OLD RIVALS

The sixth race over the straight five course should come down to a straight fight between old rivals SKIPAWAY PRINCE and SEA TRAVELLER. Both enjoy galloping over the course, but with the Omar Walker-ridden SKIPAWAY PRINCE having beaten SEA TRAVELLER the three times they met over the course, preference is for the Gregory Bucknor-trained gelding.

The lightly raced but highly thought of SEA DEVIL (working exceptionally well) looks hard to oppose when she returns from a near one-year absence in the seventh race over 1100 metres for three-year-old fillies.

Owned by Barbados-based Elias Haloute, who is currently in the island, SEA DEVIL, who has only raced twice, left us on a winning note on July 25 last year when scoring easily in a two-year-old race. She has had her share of problems since, but has looked razor sharp at exercise in recent weeks (Lasix administered) and with only 50.0kg, looks hard to oppose in a field of nine.

The same is true of the unbeaten American 3-y-o filly DOUBLE THE HONEY in the eighth race (overnight allowance) over 1200 metres.

The closing race over 1100 metres for jockeys who have not won a race in many moons should resolve itself into a straight fight between DIESEL and BUNKER DUST.
