Walters stars for St Mary
A brilliant all-round performance from Nicholas Walters propelled St Mary to a huge 201-run victory over Clarendon in the feature match of the third round of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Kingston Wharves Under-15 competition at Bushy Park last weekend.
Walters, who is expected to feature in Jamaica's Under-15 team for next year's regional competition, slammed 91 and took 4-7 in the Middlesex County showdown, as Clarendon, chasing St Mary's challenging total of 267-9 for victory, were dismissed for 66.
Kevin Daley, 50, gave Walters best support with the bat, while with the ball, Christopher Green took 3-17. Javon Mills (19) was the only Clarendon player to get into double figures.
In the county's other game, St Ann defeated St Catherine by seven wickets. Batting first, St Catherine made 129. St Ann then replied with 130-3. The county's other team, Manchester, drew a bye.
In the county of Cornwall, St Elizabeth, on the back of a seven-wicket haul from Robert Stewart, defeated Hanover by seven wickets at The Vineyard.
Stewart claimed 7-16 to help bowl out Hanover for 41. St Elizabeth in their reply tallied 43-3.
At Bounty Hall, Westmoreland also scored an easy win over Trelawny. The boys from the Cockpit Country were first dismissed for 47, and Westmoreland, in reply, cruised to 48-4. St James drew a bye.
There was also action in the county of Surrey with Portland defeating Kingston and St Andrew 'A' at the Elletson Road Police Station. Kingston and St Andrew 'A' batted first and were restricted to 127-7. Portland then replied with 128-8. Portmore drew a bye.
