Protoje happy with Sumfest debut

Fast rising reggae artist Protoje said he was pleased with the support when he performed for the first time at the much publicised Reggae Sumfest festival held last weekend.  After making an inspiring debut performance on International Night One, the smooth-talking singer, born Oje Ken Ollivierre, rounded off with another mouth-watering display at Tuesday Night Live, held at Village Blues Bars, in Barbican, St. Andrew.  However, Protoje said it was like a dream come through when he graced the stage last Friday in Montego Bay.

Good Experience

"It was a really good experience and I appreciate the resonse that I got from the audience.  I've always been in the audience at Sumfest, now I was performing in front of an audience.  Just having that vibes on stage was a really wonderful experience," he said.

Of his follow-up performance at Tuesday Night Live, he said, "Wicked, man! People been supporting my music, so I give thankw."

Protoje has had a somewhat successful year in the music industry with his single Dread, produced by Don Corleon.

Hulk comes to grips with ex-wife's remarriage

Hulk Hogan's ex-wife has got engaged to her 21-year old lover.  The wrestling legend said he is "ecstatic" 50 -year-old Linda Hogan - whom he has two children, Brooke, 22, and Nick, 20 i- is to wed Charlie Hill next summer after two years of dating.

The 56-year-old grappler, who divorced Linda in 2007 after 24 years of marriage, said: "I'm ecstatic for her.  I' very happy for them.  I think they're perfect for each other. I wish tehm the best."  It is believed Hulk will act a s witness for the couple when they tie the knot on Linda's yacht, Alimoney, next summer.

However, it is unlikely the impending nuptials will have the blessing of Brooke who blasted Charlie in an interview last year.  Brooke said, "He is a loser.  I don't have a problem with age - it's more about character.  Her love is not real and not right."

Hulk, whose real name is Terry Bollea, got engaged to his girlfriend, 36 year-old Jennifer McDaniel, last year.

Queen of the Dancehall Lady Saw will release her album, My Way, on September 7 with Toasting Music/Diva Records, distributed by Fontana/Universal. My Way follows the 2007 release of Walk Out, her final album on the reggae label VP Records.

Her latest collection features collaborations with rapper Eve and Ding Dong, as well as production by Lady Saw, along with Tony 'CD' Kelly, Lloyd 'John John' James, Danny Browne and Stephen McGregor.

In a release, the deejay said, "I wanted to have the independence and freedom to do things 100 per cent my way. I can tell the producers what I want for my rhythm and say what I want to say in my songs. No one is telling me what I can, or can't do, on this album."

Born Marion Hall, she remains true to her sexually empowering, cheeky lyricism on My Way. Whether it's liberating anthems such as Every Way Mi Go and Party Til December, or her no-holds-barred delivery on Muscle Control and 5 Minutes, the 16-track collection is jam-packed with the rugged and raw style that put Saw on the map with her 1994 debut-release, Lover Girl. She also gives listeners a glimpse of Miss Marion Hall, her softer, more mature side, on the title tracks My Way and I Am A Woman.
