Kerry Moxam, Miss 12 to 12 Promotions, is already one of the 10 finalists in this year's Miss Jamaica World (MJW) competition.
Moxam earned her spot last Saturday after she won the Venus Embrace, Miss Jamaica World Beach Beauty, one of the fast-track events in the competition which is now under way.
The coronation ceremony for the finalists will be held August 21 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
No stranger to the Miss Jamaica World pageant, Moxam was the first runner-up in the Miss Jamaica World Western Beauty Pageant in 2006 at age 17. She never made it to the finals because she was involved in a motor vehicle accident prior.
According to a release, a panel of judges, which watched the bevy of beauties perform at the Grand Palladium last Saturday, posted a review, speaking of how competitive the competition was.
"The competition was not a runaway for her (Moxam) as the other contestants looked well, some with very well-toned skin," said the judges.
"It was obvious that the girls had put in quite a bit of gym and choreography work as all gave good presentations of themselves."
The Grand Palladium was abuzz with excitement last Saturday, as the girls prepared.
Rain placed a damper on the festivities and the event had to be relocated to the Lady Hamilton Theatre.
Despite the glitches, "it was a very beautiful and magical showcase," said pageant coordinator, Dr Terri-Karelle Reid.
The packed audience, which consisted of hotel guests and friends and family of the contestants, were in for a treat as 16 contestants modelled trendy bikinis courtesy of Mushrooms.
After little deliberation, the guests cast their votes and the People's Choice winner, Miss Acropolis Gaming and Entertainment Centre, Samantha Moore, was crowned.
It was a unanimous decision for the official judges as it related to their top-three picks. Third place went to Miss Dark and Lovely, Sanique Mongal, second place winner went to Miss Osmosis, Salome Campbell. The title of Miss Beach Beauty went to the ever-smiling Moxam.
Moxam joins Chantal Raymond, as finalists in the Miss Jamaica competition so far.
The next fast-track competition is the Miss Jamaica World Sports, sponsored by Supreme Ventures, to be held tomorrow, at the Spartan Health Club.
