Only eight races are scheduled for tomorrow, thus, there will be no Pick-9, hence, we look at the second Super-6 which gets under way with a $180,000 claiming race over 1500 metres, to be contested by seven starters.
Top contenders are MISS ATLANTIC STAR, MR WICKER and SIMPLY DEVINE, who advertised her well-being last Saturday when finishing a good second to MR. BUTCHER over 1400 metres.
Any of the three is capable of winning, but the one best equipped to do so is MISS ATLANTIC STAR, who has won twice from 14 starts this season.
The seven-year-old mare, who was claimed by trainer Dennis Lee for himself out of her last race on August 6, could only manage fifth to MISS ROSE in the Independence Stakes Trophy over 1500 metres that day. But she has less to do here and now, with an astute trainer, MISS ATLANTIC STAR should win from her convenient mark of 50.0kg and the improving apprentice Chalrick Budhai aboard.
Best of a moderate lot
FAREED, who notched his only win over 1200 metres last Boxing Day, looks best of a moderate lot in the fourth race over same for five-year-olds and up. Trained by Anthony Subratie, the five-year-old gelding looks nicely off at the weights with only 51.0kg and should win from PRINCESS IRENE (knocking at the door) and KAMEEL, who was third to out-of-class MR THEOPHILUS over the distance on July 24.
The aforementioned MR THEOPHILUS bids for his second consecutive win in the fifth race over 1100 metres, but this represents a much better field with the likes of ROYAL IMPACT, DEVILISH ISHA, ENDURING and the recent winner COLORADO BABE present.
ROYAL IMPACT, who was a fast-time winner over this trip back in March, looks conveniently placed in the scales with 53.0kg (Aaron Chatrie up) and should resume winning ways.
DUSTY MILLY, though high-strung (unruly), has lots of ability judging from her recent fast-time win over 1100 metres and, given the easier pace of the sixth race over 1800 metres for three-year-olds, is preferred to the recent runaway winner DIVINITY and SHAWN'S GIRL.
Then, take LA'S DANCER to upstage super-fit LATIN KING (who bids for the four-timer) and BLONDIE BLONDIE in the seventh race over the circular-nine course, before closing the programme with the Philip Feanny-trained BEYOND THE CLOUDS ahead of WAY TO GO and EVER BLESSED.
