Purple Masters returns
After about four years of not being held, the Kingston College Old Boys' Association is back again with the event Purple Masters 'Where Friends Meet to Have a Good Time', which will be held on August 29 at the Fusion Bistro and Bar (formerly Weekends), 80 Constant Spring Road, St Andrew.
According to Charley Grant, vice-president of the association, "Kingston College, like most schools, is in trouble financially, and this is our effort to try and raise funds to help out in any way we can, whether it be in sports or academics."
The event is one day before the Roper Cup matches between Kingston College and St George's College, where football games are played between the Pepsi, Manning Cup and Over-35 teams of each school to raise funds, and for bragging rights.
Very good music
"There will be good food, very good music provided by KC old boys in the music industry and you'll have the chance to rekindle past experiences you had both inside and outside of the school," added Grant.
The main reason for the fundraiser, however, is to help out with the sporting areas of the school.
"If any sporting discipline comes to us for assistance and we have the funds to help them, we do," explained Grant.
"We hope to get widespread support across the board and to revive the interest in the event. If the support is good it would be very beneficial to the school. This is our way of trying to help the school to stay afloat."
The association hopes to make Purple Masters a calendar event that everyone will look forward to like their other fundraising activities which include a dinner, usually held in November of each year.
Kingston College memorabilia will also be on sale at the event.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from any member of the Kingston College Old Boys' Association; and other outlets will soon be announced.
