Grenada (CMC):

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has promised his government's full support to a planned expansion of the services of Clear Harbour, an international call centre, in a bid to create more jobs.

The Grenadian leader, accompanied by members of the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation, met Wednesday with Clear Harbour CEO and Managing Partner Lee Waters; Managing Partner Tut Smith; General Manager Jeffrey Malchow and the company's Administrative Manager Claudia Downes.

Thomas, who heads the CARICOM-ICT effort, noted that the region can benefit substantially from the expansion and utilisation of information and communication technology, as evidenced by the Clear Harbour operations.

"It is one area in which Grenada and the Caribbean can compete with the rest of the world on a level playing field, especially because of our educated labour force and our proximity to the United States market," the prime minister said.
