KC walk away with narrow win

Kingston College (KC) recorded their second consecutive win of the new schoolboy football season after registering a 1-0 win over Campion College in their Group F ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup encounter at the Campion College playing field yesterday.
Arsinio Walker's 77th-minute goal was enough to give 'Fortis' their second win, following their opening-round 2-1 victory over Hydel High. In contrast, this marks Campion's second successive defeat, as they were blanked 4-0 by Eltham High in their opening fixture.
Brilliant double save
Campion's custodian, David Mitchell, who was the busier of the two keepers, pulled off a brilliant double save in the 20th minute to prevent his team from going behind. He first dove to his right to block a 27-yard free kick from KC's Rashane Garcia. The rebound fell to Walker in the six-yard box but Mitchell leaped to his feet to thwart his effort from close range.
"The shape of the team had to be changed because we lost our central defender, so we had to pull out somebody," said Campion's coach Brian Phillipotts-Brown in reference to a 33rd-minute forced substitution. "There was a plan to put him (substituted player) into defensive midfield and then have speedy men on the outside. We didn't get a chance to do that because we had to make a forced change."
The deadlock was broken when, to the dismay of Campion's coach, a short corner caught his team off guard. The corner was played to Whittiker who chipped the ball into Campion's six-yard box, where Walker got off an unchallenged header.
KC, obviously working to a game plan, maintained possession for the remainder of the match to the delight of their coach, Trevor Harris.
"They kept possession much more than Campion and this is a style of play that we are promoting," said Harris. "So, hopefully, we will improve in that area and start seeing some more goals because we missed quite a few chances," he added.
