It seems almost inevitable for today's avid vacationer to have at least one less-than-ideal holiday retreat. The Saturday Life team approached some individuals to hear their personal horror stories on hotel stays in the past.

Marsha Rowe - Mandeville, Jamaica

I once stayed at a hotel in New Jersey and the disregard for me as a guest was blatantly evident. It was clear I was being treated a lot different because of my skin colour. Considering I appreciate going to hotels, where I feel like it's a home away from home, I had a big problem. I definitely called the franchise and made a complaint.

Dexter Edmund - Maryland, USA

Any hotel I've been to with a lack of good customer service and unfriendly staff. Also I've been to places where I don't get value for my money - the AC and TV, although paid for, do not work and the rooms aren't clean.

Leon Sturridge - London, England

I've been to Las Vegas, Spain, Mexico and Barba-dos, to name a few, and to be honest, I've never had a bad hotel experience but that's probably because I'm pretty easy to please. All I really need is a full breakfast in the morning and a warm bed at night.

Octavius Muir - Portmore, Jamaica

I stayed at a hotel that had really bad food. It made me so sick. I had bowel move-ments for a while.

Delroy 'Higher Tone' Francis - Kingston, Jamaica

Any-where I've been with bad food to me qualifies as a hotel where I've had a bad experience. Also I like going to hotels where the people are friendly and hospitable and there are pretty ladies to talk to. Anywhere lacking those things are not places I want to stay.
