The Buccaneers of Appleton Estate made a winning start to the defence of their title in the second annual Jamaica Golf Association-sanctioned LIME Cup team-play championship when they turned back the challenge of Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) 5-0 at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club yesterday.

Buccaneers were led to victory via national representatives Robert Chin and Roy Jardine who, with scores of four and two, proved too much for national champion Fabian Campbell, Anthony Ziadie and their teammates.

"We knew we could get the better of them once our players stuck to their task. This is our home course, hence we decided to use the course to our advantage," said Buccaneers captain Metry Seaga.

In other results, last season's runners-up Advantage General edged Pure Country Springs 3-2, while newcomers LIME hurdled SportsMax Max Pak 2.5 to 1.5.

Dominated

Leading the way for LIME were the women's pair of Janice Allen and Marlene Fulford, who dominated the Max Pak pair of Alison Taffe and Allison Reid with scores of seven and six.

"This is a very encouraging start for the Lime Lions, I must say, as despite the evening showers we held our own and showed true class," declared LIME captain, Stephen Miller.

The four-round championship now has the Buccaneers leading Zone One with a score of plus five, followed by Pure Country with minus one, and JMMB Eagles minus five.

Over in Zone Two, LIME Lions lead the way with a plus two, followed by Advantage General with plus one, and SportsMax Max Pak with minus two.
