Shedding light on pork
It is good to see that good sense sometimes prevails, even among politicians who would prefer to keep hidden just how they process political pork.
In this case, it is the decision by the parliamentary committee that reviews the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to end their secret deliberations and to open the meetings to the public, and specifically the press. After all, that $1.2 billion that is allocated to parliamentarians is really taxpayers' money and not from their private stash.
Now, the members of parliament can go just one better by eschewing the trough, dump the CDF and sending money to the legitimate government agencies that are deprived of the funds.
