Ity & Fancy Cat back in Big Apple
Popular Jamaican comedic duo Ity and Fancy Cat are back in New York by popular demand, and now putting the final touches on their set for The Ity & Fancy Show Replay, set to take place at George W. Wingate Campus in Brooklyn on Sunday, November 7. Ity & Fancy Cat will, on this occasion, be joined onstage by a complement of the television cast of the popular Jamaican TV series, which includes Rozah Roze and Kathy Grant, aka 'The Country Helper'. In addition, well-known balladeer Ed Robinson will be wooing the audience with his sensational voice.
"We are happy to return to New York so quickly to entertain our fans in this market, many of whom watch us each week on television," noted Ity and Fancy Cat. "To ensure the total satisfaction of patrons and thank them for their support, we have invited the TV cast to be part of this special performance."
Clarorific launch in Montego Bay
Thousands of patrons thronged Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay last Friday evening to participate in the simultaneous launch of Claro Jamaica's Clarorific Christmas Campaign. The festive atmosphere was electrifying, as patrons mingled and danced to the sound from Coppershot. So diverse was the crowd that vendors plying their wares, as well as commuters on their way home, were transfixed to the events onstage.
Intermixed with prizes and surprises, along with branded Claro giveaways, was a line-up that spanned not just the billed artistes but an array of budding MoBay talent. The acts included impromptu performances of the latest dance moves, 'Jerk' and 'Doughie', displayed in a 'clash' between the girls from Anchovy High and a group of local boys.
Big Ship artistes, Chino, Laden and Stephen 'Di Genius', brought further excitement to the show as they performed their latest hits. The almost four-hour-long event came to an end with a fitting performance from Baby Leopard, which included a satirical jab at prevailing crime rates with "nah sah, dis too regular/everytime mi come a town, dem tief mi cellular".
Momentum builds for Betty Wright
The countdown has begun to one of the most anticipated concerts in the Jamaican capital as Grammy Award winner, Soul and R&B singer Betty Wright takes stage on November 6, courtesy of Stiletto Concepts.
LIME Golf Academy will resonate in No Pain, No Gain as Wright shares the stage with Tarrus Riley and Tessanne Chin.
Also joining in are Freddie McGregor, who is one of reggae's most respected and soulful singers, and reggae singer Hezron. Betty Wright, who has internationally acclaimed hits such as Clean Up Woman, After the Pain and No Pain, No Gain, has captured audiences worldwide for years.
Betty is no stranger to Jamaica. "I remember it was around 1996, I performed at Woman to Woman concert in Kingston," she recalled.
Part proceeds will go to the global charity organisation, International Proxy Parents, to assist in their programmes and initiatives to better the lives of less fortunate.
