ALBANIA - Driver error caused fatal crash - police

ALBANIA (AP):

Police say a driver error caused a fatal bus crash that killed nine people and left 41 injured in southern Albania.

The bus plunged down a 300-foot (90 meter) cliff late Monday night as it travelled from the Albanian capital to Greece. Police said yesterday that the driver lost control of the vehicle before the crash.

They said the bus did not have mechanical problems. Two of the injured who are in serious condition have been sent for treatment at a hospital in the northern Greek city of Ioannina, while another 24 were still being treated in hospitals in Albania.
