Sangster's presented with 2010 Poetic Pioneers Award

Sangster's Book Stores Ltd was presented with the Poetic Pioneers Award 2010 by members of the Dub Traffickers Poets on Friday, November 26.

The private presentation was made at the head office of Sangster's, 101 Water Lane, downtown Kingston.

Sangster's was lauded for publishing and distributing books and other material related to poetry. Among those are works by two poetry icons, Oku Onoura and Louise 'Miss Lou' Bennett-Coverley.

Sangster's Book Stores was founded in 1938 by Ferdinand Sangster, with the first store opened on King Street, Kingston. In pursuit of commitment and service to its valued customers, Sangster's increased its service locations between 1968 and 1972.

Today, the Sangster's name is synonymous with textbooks and school supplies and has made an indelible imprint on Jamaica's journey to excellence in education.
