Mitchell banned for five days

Jockey Richard Mitchell has been suspended for a total of five racedays by the stewards for two separate riding infringements at Caymanas Park on November 12 and 13.

Appearing before the stewards at Winchester Road on Tuesday, Mitchell was slapped with a four-day ban for careless riding aboard EARTHWINDANDFIRE in the ninth race on Friday, November 12, causing interference to MYRTLE WAY at the half mile.

Mitchell, who rode MACHISMO in the eighth race on November 13, picked up an additional one-day suspension for causing interference to both THE ADMIRAL and ROMEZ at the 400-metre point.

His suspensions commence on Saturday, December 11 and will extend to the Boxing Day meet on Monday, December 27.

On the previous Tuesday, apprentice Richard Mairs was suspended for four racedays for careless riding aboard MORNING CRUISE in the ninth race on November 12, causing interference to EARTHWINDANDFIRE, TOP MAN and the winner LATIN KING at the 1200-metre point. His sus-pension commences today.

Apprentice Jevvanne Erwin picked up two racedays for foul riding on SAMBA DANCER on November 3, his suspension effective today as well, while jockey Paul 'Country' Francis also sits out the day after he was penalised for improper riding aboard REWARDING STAR in the 11th race on November 13.
