Scotiabank sweep awards

Scotiabank Group won nine awards at the 2010 Jamaica National Building Society/Western Sport-sponsored Norman GoodisonInter-Bank Football presentation ceremony, which was held on Wednesday at the Scotiabank Sports Club in Liguanea.

They won the dress parade, the Bankers' Association trophy for the five-a-side football rally, with Akeem Themstead receiving the MVP award. They also retained the coveted Norman Goodison league trophy for the third straight year, with Richard West (9 goals) winning the leading goalscorer award.

Norwayne Knight won the MVP award, with Tavar McQueen voted best goalkeeper for the second year. Coach Calvert Fitzgerald won his fifth inter-bank coach-of-the-year award, and Diana Polack copped her third manager-of-the-year title. Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) were runners-up in both competitions.

Beaten semi-finalists, Bank of Jamaica, were the most disciplined team in the league. President Livingstone Morrison thanked JNBS and Western Sports for their continued support of the league, as this was their third straight year as sponsors.

Awards were given to referees Rinaldo Francis and his assistants, Lloyd Ricketts and Walworth Duncan, who officiated in the final.
