Lynch, Francis banned, champ Walker cautioned
Jockey Clive Lynch was slapped with a five-day suspension for careless riding aboard RESTLESS MARQUE in the first race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 20.
He was one of five riders on whom suspensions were imposed by the stewards at inquiries held by them at the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday.
Lynch was penalised for the interference caused to HYPOCRITE at the 800- and 1200-metre point of the course. His suspension commences tomorrow.
Other riders suspended were Paul 'Country' Francis (four days) for careless riding aboard BLACKIE DAVIS in the 10th race on November 27, this for causing interference to WAIT AWHILE approaching the half mile; Tadious Simpson (four days) for improper riding aboard AWESOME REWARD in the second race on December 4, inter-fering with both the winner RHOSA KLEBB and runner-up MING LEI in the backstretch; and Peter Bryan (two days) for careless riding aboard PAT N GOLD in the 11th race on December 4, his mount causing interference to HEARTOFACHAM-PION leaving the 600-metre point. All three will start their suspensions on Wednesday, December 22.
At the same hearing, female apprentice Georgina Sergeon picked up a one-day suspension for careless riding aboard JELANI in the seventh race on December 11. Her mount caused interference to beaten favourite BREDDA PAPPA in the vicinity of the 800-metre marker. Her suspension also embraces next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, champion jockey Omar Walker, who rode MR SKILL on December 8, Dane Nelson on the winning horse WHEEL N DEAL on December 4, and Oral Bennett, who rode IRISH SPIRIT on December 8, as well as Delroy Beharie on NAVAL COMMANDER on Nov-ember 24, were cautioned by the stewards for riding infringements.
MR SKILL, who made most, caused interference to the winner TRIPLE ACCOUNT, the third horse PRINCE THEO (awarded second) and ANTIOCH shortly after the start, resulting in his disqualification from second place.
