The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) final-year marketing students on Saturday hosted approximately 67 children from the City of Refuge Children's Home.

The day of activities included mouth-watering meals, snacks, refreshments, gifts, books and various prizes. The children played various board games, football, and dominoes, while some were only keen on enjoying the bounce-about, colouring or just being held by the students.

Director for the home, Kim Puffpaff, was overwhelmed with emotion when she thanked the group for their act of kindness and expressed that the children will cherish the memories of the day.

She added that one cannot put a price on, or buy a smile from a child, and described the happiness on the youngsters' faces as priceless.

Coordinator for the day's proceedings, Rose-Marie Henry, stated that the event was a tremendous success and was made possible by corporate sponsors such as Jamaica Broilers, Island Dairy, Chas E. Ramson, Grace Foods, National Bakery, Wisynco, Kingston Bookshop, Gloria's, UTech, HEART Trust/NTA, Lascelles and Lecky Enterprises.

A UTech marketing programme facilitator, Nigel McFarlane, shared similar sentiments about the day's success and was more than pleased to see the smile on the faces of the children.

The marketing students plan to work closely with the home during 2011, and possibly beyond that.
