Double for Bridgmohan

NEW ORLEANS (CMC):
Jamaican Shaun Bridgmohan rode a double at Fair Grounds on Saturday to remain in the top 10 of the jockeys' standings at the southern United States racetrack.
He opened the 11-race card with a dominant win aboard the odds-on favourite Holiday Buzz, before returning to score with another favourite Justin Philip in race four, to complete his success.
Bridgmohan lies eighth in the standings on 18 wins, nine off leader Jamie Theriot in the season which finishes at the end of March.
Going a mile and 70 yards in race one for four-year-olds and upward, Holiday Buzz broke badly and settled at the rear of the field as Holly Jet, chased by Bubbling Springs, posted the early fractions.
At the top of the stretch, Bridgmohan shifted the three-year-old bay colt wide and urged him on and he overhauled the leaders and drew away handsomely to win by 5-1/2 lengths.
In the $47,000 race four over another mile and 70-yard trip, the 31-year-old Bridgmohan put Justin Phillip to the front from the outset, posting 24.74 seconds for the first quarter and 48.82 for the half-mile.
