One of the dominant shows of its kind in the United States of America, the Fort Lauderdale Home Design and Remodelling Show, was held December 3-5, 2010, at the Broward County Convention Centre in Florida, showcasing over 800 exhibits of the very latest that the world has to offer for the home and its environment.

I was there again to witness and embrace display booths, many behond belief! Here are some of them.

Bathrooms - bronzed and polished

Bathroom sinks have never looked this fantastic. Exclusive hand-carved, unbelievably detailed and textured pieces of art, produced in a 600-year-old factory. They are available in bronze, copper, porcelain and mosaic and are embellished with Swarovski crystals, pearls, Venetian glass, marble and polished nickel.

Just when you thought you had seen or read it all on bathrooms, here comes an amazingly designed, cutting-edge sink, where water disappears before your very eyes to nowhere - no drain hole!

Basin faucets are so unusually engineered and crafted, you don't know how to operate them.

Artistic free-standing bathtubs that add a focal point wherever they are placed.

Unbelievable as it may sound, the days of toilet paper usage could soon be over! Automated 'seats' made to fit your existing toilet offer hygienic, cleansing, warm water washes (with air dryer and deodoriser). Hand-held remote control allows for adjustable water temperature pressure and wash nozzle positioning.

Heat in the bed

Jacuzzi Inc invented the whirlpool hot tub. They have now launched another product of utter relaxation - luxury mattresses for couples.

I said it before in 1996 when I covered the Miami International Home and Garden Show, "Don't be surprised when you see these innovations gracing homes in Jamaica soon! And I will say it again. In fact, Jamaicans were busy buying at this 2010 home design and remodelling show.
