Double lifts Bridgmohan to fourth

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CMC):

Jamaican Shaun Bridgmohan rode two winners on Monday at Fair Grounds, as he moved into fourth in the jockeys' standings at the southern United States racetrack.

He captured the US$52,000 race four aboard the hot favourite Hallway and then returned to take race seven with 3-1 bet Tone It Down, to move to 40 wins for the season ending March 27.

Anna Rose Napravnik continues to lead the standings with 48 wins, with Richard Eramia two back in second.

Narrow victory

Bridgmohan kicked off his success with a handsome ride to carry Hallway to a narrow victory over the four-year-olds and upward, going a mile and 70 yards.

The 31-year-old raced the seven-year-old chestnut horse just off the pace set by Classy Deelites, before finding acceleration inside the last furlong to get home by a neck.

In race seven, Bridgmohan stalked with Tone It Down in second, with rank outsider My Risenstar setting the pace throughout the mile and 70-yard trip.

Bridgmohan carried the bay horse to the front at the three-eighth pole, and inched clear slowly to get home by a length.
