Second win for champs Mona

DEFENDING champions Mona, St Patrick's and St Benedict's registered their second straight wins as the 2011 Institute of Sports-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schoolgirls Netball League continued at the Leila Robinson on Wednesday.

The defending champions recorded a 22-0 shutout win over Tarrant in their encounter that saw the winners lead 9-0 at half-time.

Meanwhile, the Lecia Walters-coached St Patrick's aggregation raced away to a convincing 27-1 win over Iris Gelly, who were losing their second game from as many starts.

St Benedict's also drubbed St Martin de Porres 30-2 in registering the second highest margin of victory this season. The highest score so far this season was registered by St Patrick's, who defeated Jessie Ripoll 34-0.

Other wins

Meanwhile, last year's beaten finalists, Clan Carthy, were held to an 8-8 draw by Alpha, who led 4-1 at half-time. The two were tied at 6-6 in the third quarter and only managed two goals apiece in the final quarter to play to a draw.

August Town won their second game from three starts with a narrow 10-1 win over Holy Family.

Mountain View whipped Seaview Gardens 23-1, while Balmagie outscored Holy Rosary 12-6.

Port Royal defeated St Aloysius 21-1; Rollington Town came out 9-7 winners over St Martin de Porres; Lawrence Tavern got the better of New Providence 9-6.

St George's made it two wins from two outings with a 10-9 win over Tavares Gardens while Rollington Town and Denham Town played to a 5-5 draw.

The league continues today at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 10 a.m.
