Reno shock Harbour View

Reno FC made the most of their home field advantage by ambushing the highly fancied Harbour View 2-1 at the Frome Sports Complex yesterday in Digicel Premier League action.

Ace striker Craig Foster was the chief destroyer for the Reno team, netting a brace with goals in the 5th and 73rd minutes of play while Harbour View's talisman Jermaine Hue got his team's consolation in the 8th minute.

After some industrious play from left-sided midfielder Shane Anderson, who lofted a cross in Foster's path after a heavy tussle on his flanks, the striker skilfully lobbed home his effort in the roof of the net to give his team a surprise lead.

Trademark free kick

Three minutes later, Hue pulled his team level with one of his trademark free kicks which went around a four-man wall and beyond the reach of Gavin Barrett in the Reno goal from just outside the 18-yard area.

Both teams wasted several opportunities to take the lead afterwards with Hue at one stage hitting the crossbar. However, the decider came in the 73rd minute when Foster received a ball in the danger zone from Troy Reid that seemed to have taken the Harbour View defenders by surprise. The striker wasted no time in putting the ball in the back of the net once again in what proved to be the deciding play of the game.

Donovan Hayles, coach of Harbour View, was disappointed with the result but praised the Reno team for their efforts.

"We were a little flat at the beginning, hence we gave up a goal but we fought back and it paid off but we came out flat again in the second half and it cost us the game," said Hayles.

Beaming

The assistant coach for Reno, Michael Graham, was beaming with joy following the final whistle and promised that his team will be treating each game like a final.

"This is what we have been talking about," Graham said. "We have to get three points when we play at home and if we play our game, we will always get the three points," Graham said.

"I am expecting the away game against Benfica to be a good one and our main intention is to play our kind of game and come away with the points because we have to get in the top 6 of the standings."
