Pattex Cup skittles final tomorrow
The Henkel-sponsored Pattex Cup skittles final takes place tomorrow at Mystix Sports Bar, 783/4 Hagley Park Road, with defending champions Eastern All-Stars opposing Mystix, starting at 1 p.m.
Both teams scored identical 6-2 wins over their opponents in semi-final action at Mercury Skittles Club, Old Harbour Road, last Sunday. Eastern All-Stars brushed aside Starliner after racing into a 5-0 lead going into the sixth game, while Mystix did likewise against Willies Strikers in the other semi-final.
Although cup holders Eastern All-Stars are favourites to retain their title, Mystix (formerly Track Price Plus) should give good account of themselves as they have a wealth of championship experience. The current crop of players won numerous titles for Track Price.
Players such as Cleveland Murray (captain), Tony Reid, Charles Service, Everton Thomas, Danny Wellington, Clarence 'Micey' Williams, Alphanso Stewart, Lloyd James and female player Rose Hill could rise to the occasion.
However, Eastern All-Stars will be represented by some of the big names in local skittles and are worthy favourites. Their team boasts former singles champions Fitzroy 'Paul' Blair (captain), Nehemiah 'Fatta' Henry and Keith Barrett, along with Keitho Stephens, Sidney Carrington, 'Tiger' Smith and Patrick Thompson, among others.
Prior to the final, Starliner will oppose Willies Strikers in the third place play-off, while play in the preliminary round of the ladies' singles championship will continue.
Meanwhile, two players from Eastern All-Stars (Fitzroy 'Paul' Blair, Keitho Stephens) and two from Eagles (Robert McKen, Emmanuel Munda) won their quarter-final matches in the Sistas singles championship to advance to the semis and final, to be played on Sunday, March 6 at Willies, Three Miles Plaza.
The semi-final draw pits Blair against teammate Stephens, and the same is true of the other semi-final draw, between McKen and Munda.

Final stop on Cal's pool tour
A record 74 entries have been received for the seventh and final stop on the Cal's Spring Water/ Real Vibes Party Wine pool tourna-ment (eight ball) today and tomorrow at Mystix Sports Bar, 783/4 Hagley Park Road, starting at noon.
The draw was made on Wed-nesday night at Hot Shots Pool Bar, 103 Constant Spring Road, during the weekly mini-tournaments.
Among the entries are the winners of the six previous tournaments on the tour, which began at Hot Shots in August with victory for Montego Bay's Noel 'Schoolboy' Blagrove.
Blagrove, the island's number one ranked player, went on to win three of the six tournaments, the most recent last month in Negril, to capture total prize money of $240,0000.
The other winners of the lucrative monthly tournaments are Calhoun Melville, Rhys Chin and Jody Mullings.
The all-island double elimination tournament offers a first prize of $80,000 and a trophy, second $35,000 and a trophy, third $15,000 and a trophy, and fourth $7,500. Players finishing from fifth to eighth place will each receive $2,500.
Entry fee is $1,500 for members of the Jamaica Billiards Association.

Meadows lead Confed Super League
Following eight completed rounds in the South Central Confed Super League, defending champions Meadows head the standings on 18 points, followed by Rivoli on 17, and the vastly improving Monymusk on 15.
In last weekend's round, Meadows and Rivoli ended 1-1 in their top-of-the-table clash at Monk Street, Monymusk spanked De la Vega 3-0, fourth-place Bodles edged Naggo Head 1-0, Downs defeated Newland 2-1, Tru-Juice stopped New Bowens 2-0 while Mile Gully and Newell drew 1-1.
Rivoli hosted their big St Catherine derby and duly grabbed the lead through Barrington Planter (35th) before Dwayne Hunter replied (55th) to keep Meadows on top. Monymusk's big win was their second straight win and was set up by Andre Issac's double strike (35th, 42nd) and Christopher Dunn (50th).
Matches slated for this week-end: Today - Downs vs De la Vega; Tru-Juice vs Mile Gully; and Naggo Head vs Newland. Tomorrow - Newell vs Rivoli; Monymusk vs New Bowens; and Meadows vs Bodles.

Super Action on top in St Elizabeth
Super Action stayed on top in the J. Wray and Nephew-sponsored St Elizabeth Major League after posting an impressive 3-0 win over Treasure Beach last weekend. Their lead has now been extended to six points over second-place Black River, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Mountainside.
The round was highlighted by Tafari Lions, who won 4-0 over Vineyard to move within a point of Black River. Appleton Estate completed the high-scoring weekend with a 4-1 win over Parottee. In a rescheduled game on Monday, Young Brazil defeated Burnt Ground 2-0.
Six games will be played this weekend. Today: Burnt Ground host Black River, Braes River vs Mountainside and Young Brazil vs New Holland. Tomorrow: Treasure Beach vs Vineyard, Super Action vs Appleton and Parottee United vs Tafari Lions.

Claro/Captain's Bakery Clarendon Major League
Leaders Gimme-Me-Bit will have an excellent chance of chasing an eighth straight win in the Claro/ Captain's Bakery Clarendon Major League when they host York Town today.
Gimme-Me-Bit have a perfect record of seven wins, scoring 14 goals and conceding three. York Town, on the other hand, are in seventh place on seven points with a negative goal difference. However, both teams are coming off wins from the last round. Davian Mitchell's 35th minute goal gave Gimme-Me-Bit a 1-0 win over Milk River while Omar White scored late to earn York Town a 1-0 win over Longwood.
In other results from this week's matches: Rock River outscored Gayle 5-3, Woodhall beat Original Hazard 1-0 while Spartan edged Freetown 1-0.
Matches on this weekend: Freetown vs Gayle (today) and Longwood vs Woodhall (tomorrow).

Manchester Major League round-up
The rush will be on to secure the two places for the mid-season final in The Captain's Bakery Manchester Major League.
Three teams in contention are leaders Porus 16, New Green 15 and Hillstars 13.
Fourth-place Kendal have no chance as they have already completed their fixtures with 12 points.
Porus are best placed to secure one spot, requiring just a draw. A draw could also be good for New Green. However, this is only possible if Hillstars do not achieve a victory against Comfort at Cobbla. With an excellent goal average, victory would seal a berth for Hillstars regardless of the Porus-New Green encounter.
Tomorrow's two games feature Young Diamonds against Mandeville United at Hanbury and George's Valley against Star Liner at deCarteret College.
Last weekend's results: New Green edged Mandeville United 1-0, Porus stopped Hillstars 3-1, Kendal defeated George's Valley 2-1 while Young Diamonds and Star Liner drew 1-1.
Waterford High, Boston receive multi-purpose court
The Waterford High School and the Boston community welcomed the official opening of their multi-purpose court on February 20, by member of parliament for South East St Catherine, Colin Fagan.
The project to rehabilitate the court was undertaken by Fagan through his Constituency Development Fund to the tune of approximately $2 million.
Work was done by the Sports Development Foundation to provide fencing, marking, adequate seating (for approximately 100 persons) and installation of hoops.Fagan said a management committee was already in place to monitor the use of the facility.
Cecile Bernard, principal of Waterford High, spoke to the importance of having a suitable sporting facility to encourage students' participation in sporting activities, which will inevitably build the profile of the school.
The court was designed to facilitate netball, basketball and volleyball.
