The 2011 VW Polo is a small car with a big reputation, having secured the prestigious '2010 World Car Of The Year' award recently.

The annual 'World Car of the Year Award' recognises the world's most outstanding vehicles based on merit, value, safety, environmental impact, significance and emotional appeal with more than 50 automotive journalists from around the globe voting the Polo number one. The Polo outclassed 29 other nominees which included the Mazda 3, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Toyota Prius.

Presented at the annual New York International Auto Show, the 'World Car of the Year' win for the Polo signified a repeat victory for Volkswagen which had also taken top honours the previous year for its Golf model.

Adam Harris, Volkswagen brand manager at ATL Autohaus, Jamaica's authorised VW dealership, also praised the Polo on its success.

"We are delighted that the Polo has been awarded this title and it goes to show the tremendous international impact that both the model and brand are making. As this award suggests, the Polo is a remarkable car and we are sure it will resonate well with our Jamaican drivers as it offers far more functionality, style, horsepower and safety features than any other car in its class including the Nissan Tiida and Suzuki Swift for a lower price. A VW Polo is now available for a net price of J$2.55 million after promotional discounts compared with the Tiida and Swift which range between J$2.6 million and J$2.7 million, respectively," he said.

The latest generation of the VW Polo has quickly become a firm favourite in the brand's line up with its uncluttered, timeless design, exceptional versatility and efficiency. Housing an ultra modern 1.4L, seven-speed, high-torque DSG dual-clutch gearbox engine topped with impressive pulling power, the impressive seven-speed car boasts revolutionary technology, usually associated with vehicles above its class, not only under its bonnet but within its cabin as well.

Roomy

Motorists sliding behind the wheel of the Polo will find it the roomiest among current compact cars and uncompromising in functionality and comfort. Safety features are also first rate and include an automatic tyre monitoring display, an electronic stabilisation programme (ESP) which aids driver control in critical driving situations as well as an ultra-modern airbag system.

The VW Polo is available exclusively at ATL Autohaus - Jamaica's authorised Volkswagen dealership - and is available for viewing and test drives at the St Andrew facility at 3 Oxford Road, or at Bogue City Centre in Montego Bay.
