It is not often that an artiste of the stature of Beres Hammond performs at a high school event.

Fortunately for Ardenne High School, Beres is a parent and so will be performing as part of a fund-raiser the institution is undertaking.

"This Saturday, the grounds of Ardenne High School will come alive with the soulful melodies of Beres Hammond," read a release from the school.

Beres will headline the event to raise funds to expand the 500-seat Olson Hall Auditorium to better accommodate the current school population of almost 2,000 students.

The concert will also feature Omari and Denyque, as well as performances by the Ardenne High School music and drama groups. Beres is expected to perform old favourites like I Feel Good, Rock Away, and What One Dance Can Do, in addition to songs from his Music Is Life album.

The concert is scheduled to start at 8 p.m., with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the PTA office at Ardenne, Liguanea Drug & Garden Centre, Mall Pharmacy, Xtras Manor Park and Mall Plaza, York Pharmacy, De La Vega Pharmacy, Embees Pharmacy, Petcom Portmore and Angels. Ticket cost is $2,500 (general), and $3,000 (VIP). Tickets will also be sold at the gate.
