Special Olympics says thanks for 'Bob Marley One Love' contribution

Proceeds from the Bob Marley One Love charity football match, in the form of cash, computers and refrigerators, have been handed over to the Mustard Seed Children's Home, Special Olympics and Best Care Lodge Children's Home.

The Bob Marley One Love game, spearheaded by chief organiser Clive 'Busy' Campbell, is an annual charity which seeks to raise funds for the poor and needy. The match was played at the Stadium East field on March 16, with Digicel and Supreme Ventures as the main sponsors.

Lorna Bell, executive director of Special Olympics, said her organisation is very grateful for the donation.

"We really appreciate it because it goes towards our preparations for the 2011 World Summer Games in Greece in June," said Bell. "It will also help to cover our expense for one of our weekly sessions at the Independence Park Limited, at the Stadium East field."

She added: "I want to commend Busy for doing this over the years and I want to encourage sponsors to come support in the years to come."

Campbell said he was very happy to be assisting with the well being of the organisations because they are really in need of it.

"I feel proud as a Jamaican to be helping in some way to contribute to a better life for the ones at these children's homes," said Campbell.

"Over the years we have people that have stood behind us and I must thank all the sponsors for supporting us. I am hoping that they will continue to be a part of this event for years to come," he added.
