Central Village, Caymanas Bay for St Catherine honours

Central Village and Caymanas Bay will meet to decide the representative from St Catherine, after both recorded contrasting semi-final victories in the Claro/ INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championship at Lasco Oval last Sunday.

Hosts Central Village, with a large partisan crowd cheering them on, beat Point Hill 2-0 in the feature game of a double-header.

Caymanas Bay, in the meantime, overcame Cooton 3-0 on penalties, as both sides played to a 1-1 scoreline after full and extra-time.

The final is set for April 10 at Lasco Oval, which will also see the playing of the Portmore final between Westchester and Naggo Head.

In games played in other parishes on Sunday, Glasgow booked a mid-week semi-final clash with Meadows after outscoring Mount Edgecomb 3-1 at York Castle.

Also at York Castle, Steer Town defeated Russian Youth 2-1 and will face off with defending champions Ocho Rios in the other semi-final.

a point for Balaclava

Needing only a point, Balaclava did just that, playing to a 2-2 draw in their rescheduled semi-final against Crawford at Lacovia, St Elizabeth.

They join Burnt Savannah, Appleton and Warminster as qualifiers for the semi-finals.

In quarter-final action in Troy, Trelawny, defending champions Flamingo whipped Sawyers 5-2, while Low River edged Rock Spring 4-3 on penalties after both sides were inseparable at 1-1 following extra time.

Things were even much closer in Jackson Town, Trelawny, with penalties used as the determining factor in both games.

Having played to a 1-1 scoreline, Lime Tree outscored Wilson Valley 4-1 in the ensuing shoot-out.

Mendez Town and Ultra Spring played to a 0-0 draw, but the former were more accurate from 12 yards outgunning their opponents 3-1. The Trelawny semi-finals are set for April 6 and 7.

Logwood and Belgium moved into the quarter-finals in Westmoreland with the former blanking United Strikers 2-0.

Belgium had a walkover and a 3-0 margin of victory over Pullet Lane, after the latter failed to show for their encounter.
