Big first for Tacky

Tacky High School of western St Mary booked a first ever trip to the Grace/ISSA rural Headley Cup cricket final after defeating Vere Technical High by 95 runs in a semi-final match at GC Foster College yesterday.

Set 173 runs to win, Vere could only manage 77 in 27 overs.

It was the second straight batting failure for Vere who had resumed their first innings on 107 for eight when play began. Led by John Campbell's five for 43, Tacky dismissed them for 125 to earn the crucial first innings honours and a 32-run advantage.

Alwayne Williams then scored 80 not out as Tacky were bowled out for 140. John Campbell who made 41 in Tacky's first innings, took another six wickets to secure the man-of-the-match award with 11 for 73.

Tacky will play St Elizabeth Technical in the final starting Monday at Alpart.
