Treasure Girl off to Trinidad

Following her close second to stable companion NIPHAL in last Saturday's 1000 Guineas, TREASURE GIRL was yesterday shipped out of the island for Trinidad to continue her racing career at Santa Rosa Park.
The decision was taken by her owner, Baskaran Basswah and his associates at a meeting on Sunday. TREASURE GIRL will be conditioned by T & T champion trainer John O'Brien, who has enjoyed tremendous success with another Jamaican horse, BRUCEONTHELOOSE in 2009 and 2010.
According to the filly's trainer Gary Subratie, TREASURE GIRL is scheduled to run at Santa Rosa towards the end of this month. She will be aimed at the T&T Triple Crown series.
Subratie further disclosed that the groom of TREASURE GIRL, Michael Smith, will also travel to Trinidad, but at a later date when the required paperwork is completed.
The owners of TREASURE GIRL and 2000 Guineas winner BIG MAN BOYU convened the meeting to decide whether to send both horses to Trinidad where they would be prepared for the major three-year-old races in 2011.
However, in the case of BIG MAN BOYU, who is co-owned by Bassawh and Mark Goodridge, it was decided to leave the son of War Marshall in Jamaica for the remaining classics.
It is understood that Goodridge insisted that 'BIG MAN' stay here for the time being, as the improving chestnut colt looks a potential Triple Crown winner.
