Sts Peter & Paul Preparatory (SPAP) and Excelsior Primary were crowned respective champions at yesterday's staging of the Mayberry Investments Swimming Championships at the National Stadium Pool.

SPAP finished atop the standings with 471 points ahead Hillel (406), Stella Maris (344), Mona (262), Wolmer's (171), Porter's Centre for Knowledge (101), Creative Kids Learning Academy (CKLA) (71), Vaz (66), Apex (35) and Hopefield (22).

SPAP also won the overall boys' and girls' sections, respectively. They tallied 256 points to capture the boys' section ahead of Hillel (230), Stella Maris (153), Porter's Centre for Knowledge (96), Wolmer's (94) and Mona (69); then won the girls' title with 215 points, beating Mona (193), Stella Maris (191), Hillel (176), Wolmer's (77), Vaz (51), CKLA (37) and Apex (31).

Primary schools' section

In the primary schools' section, in which five teams participated, Excelsior captured the title comfortably with 97 points, far ahead of St Aloysius and Jessie Ripoll, with four points each, followed by Pembroke Hall (three) and St Catherine (0).

Angara Sinclair of SPAP won the girls' 11-12 individual medley in a new meet record of 2:57.48. The previous record of 3:06.96 was held by Octivia Gray. Tiara Myrie of CKLA was second, also breaking the previous record, with a time of (3:05.93), while Jada Newell (3:22.14) of SPAP was third.

Russell Hinds of Hillel captured the boys' equivalent in 3:23.24, beating Alexa-Cody Jones of Porter's Centre for Knowledge (3:31.01) and Zurich Foreman (3:42.65) of SPAP.

Apex's Sydoni Young won the 11-12 50m backstroke in 43.06, followed by Mona's Kimberley Stewart (45.19) and Savannah Hussey of Hillel (47.96), respectively.

Samuel Battick of SPAP captured the boys' 9-10 50m freestyle in 34.04 ahead of Kevon Findlay (35.02) of Our Lady of the Angels, and Hillel's Cole Nash (35.19).
