Online feedback
Below is feedback from online readers to yesterday's lead story in The Gleaner, titled 'Filthy'.
inhumane
Despite the explanations given, I still think the powers that be are too accepting of the low standard prevailing at the Golden Age Home. No one should be placed on the floor, or allowed to crawl around on all fours. Get the residents the necessary apparatus so they can move about in dignity. Jamaica is not the only place with congenitally disabled persons in homes.
What is happening is too outmoded, if not inhumane.

charge the man!
It seems that some level of the mismanagement of the facility is actually criminal. Why not charge this man with criminal negligence?

gross insult!
What a load of bull! What was the point of holding a meeting when Mr Montague had no intention of addressing the problems.
There is friendly banter, and there is gross insult. No professional should speak to anyone by calling them names at work.

mismanagement
Can you believe that this guy refused the resignation of some of those people, after how they treat the sick and elderly? Just look at that joker! Now there's no need to ask why the folks at those institution get treated like dirt.

endorsing wrong
Clearly, after the visit by The Gleaner folks and the subsequent exposé, things would not be as bad as was reported. Still, referring to any female patient as 'gyal' and playing 'donkey' with another patient, who is the donkey, is no way to treat any patient in any health-care facility/infirmary facility.
As for Bobby Montague, not accepting the resignations of board members of the Golden Age Home, I can't say I'm surprised. Just one more example of wrongs being done by government employees and no punishment meted out.
