Boys' Town maintain pressure

First-half strikes from midfielders Fabian Francis and Marvin Morgan Jr guided Boys' Town to a 2-0 win over Waterhouse in Digicel Premier League action at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium yesterday.

Needing to win to give themselves a shot at the title heading into Sunday's final- round matches, Francis netted after 21 minutes, while Morgan scored on the stroke of half-time.

The win moved Boys' Town to 68 points, one behind leaders Tivoli Gardens, who drew 0-0 with Harbour View at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.

This means that heading into the final set of matches, all Tivoli need is to avoid defeat, while Boys' Town must win to end their 21-year Premier League title drought.

"The field was hard and dry, not conducive to our type of passing football, but we did what we needed to in the first half, that of taking the lead," said Boys' Town head coach, Andrew Price. "We then consolidated somewhat in the second half. It's now on to the last game."

After an even opening 20 minutes, Boys' Town took the lead when Francis, lurking inside the area, finished off a square from fellow midfielder Jamiel Hardware.

Boys' Town then gradually began to stamp their authority on the game, and with the half-time break nearing, duly increased their lead through Morgan.

In almost a similar situation as the first goal, Morgan was left unmarked inside the area, and with goalkeeper Richard McCallum at his mercy, he buried his shot from close to the penalty spot.

"We lapsed twice and it cost us the game," said Marcel Gayle, coach of Waterhouse. "We then made a couple of changes in the hope of getting back into the game, but they were disciplined in defence and held us."
