Jeneil makes the cover of May's Italian Vogue
This is the final instalment in a six-part feature on Pulse supermodel Jeneil Williams. Williams has not only become one of the most recognisable supermodels in the world, but is, arguably, the most successful cover girl that the Caribbean has produced. She will lead the line-up of models at Caribbean Fashionweek in June and is certain to capture the attention of press and fashionistas in attendance from around the globe.
Pulse supermodel Jeneil Williams is on the cover of this month's Vogue Beauty. Apart from the cover of this Italian edition of the magazine, she appears in a 24-page feature inside. Williams now adds Italian Vogue to her list of magazine covers, which includes i-D (twice), Love, The Wall Street Journal (twice), BMM, French, Full Freedom, SHE Caribbean. Williams' fellow Pulse model, Gaye McDonald, is also featured in five pages of the magazine.
This is yet another occasion on which multiple Jamaican beauties from Pulse have graced the pages of major magazines. A couple which come readily to mind featured agency mate Sedene Blake in Russian Vogue editorials for two separate editions of that magazine.
Williams and Blake have also been shot together for Harper's Bazaar and the New York Times magazines.
Williams' Vogue cover was shot by the famed Ellen Von Unwerth, with styling and fashion editing by Giulio Martinelli; make-up artistry was by Anna Maria Negri, with hair styled by Fededrico Ghezzi.
Fashion heavyweight
Her latest triumph gives Williams her 10th international cover and reconfirms her status among fashion's heavyweights, if, indeed, that were necessary.
Williams was spotted very early in her career by style icon Mario Testino, fashion's great photographer, who had taken a keen interest in her and asked to meet her.
Testino, famous for his incredible photography, including the memorable Princess Diana set, and more recently Prince William and his bride Catherine Middleton, has been responsible for much of the success of other Pulse greats such as Nadine Willis and Jaunel McKenzie, whom he shot repeatedly. Looking back, it is clear from those early days, that there was indeed something very special about this dazzlingly ebony Jamaican beauty.
Since her discovery by Pulse in the 2005 Caribbean Model Search, Williams has only moved upward. She set the bar higher with each new accomplishment and has brought tremendous satisfaction to her backers, especially Pulse, her mother agent, which guides her career. However, the feeling of satisfaction is shared by New York Models in New York, Nathalie in Paris, D Management in Milan, Jill Models in Antwerp and Premier in London. Her international success is also due to her discipline, commitment and tenacity for which she is now reaping global rewards and recognition.
With Lois Samuels and Sedene Blake appearing on the cover of Vogue, Williams' current edition represents the third Pulse and Caribbean model to have earned this distinction.
