Holy Trinity organ bellows again
The Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Ward Theatre, two of Kingston's foremost heritage sites, are staging a fund-raising event to enable restoration of their edifices.
The latest event will be a pipe organ recital performed by internationally renowned classical pipe organist, Diane Bish, on Sunday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral at 4:00 p.m.
The recital will signify the first time the newly restored pipe organ will be played at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. The significance of this joint venture resides in the fact that the newly restored organ was donated in 1911 by Colonel Charles Ward, late custos of Kingston. It contributed to the rebuilding of the city, which had been devastated by an earthquake in 1907.
Of course, Ward also contributed the Ward Theatre to the city, and that is also in need of restoration.
