Peebles leads day two

Peter Horrobin recovered on Saturday's day two of the Professional Golf Association of Jamaica's (PGAJ) inaugural PGAJ Players Championship, which is being played at Tryall in Sandy Bay, Hanover.

Horrobin shot par 71 for a combined score of 148 to be just one stroke behind leader Ewan Peebles, who shot 77 today plus his 70 of yesterday to end day two on 147 atop the leader board.

Dermott Warren, who was in fourth position yesterday on 79, shot 74 on Saturday for a day-two total of 153, to take over the third position ahead of JGA's national champion amateur Fabian Campbell. Campbell shot a respectable 75 or 4 over par, plus his carry-over score of 80 to move up one place to fourth.

Alford Robinson, who was in second on Friday, is currently languishing in fifth position. On Saturday, he shot 80 after his 76 Friday.

The day's weather was good for golf as there were no rain delays in contrast to Friday's two delays. The conditions certainly suited the golfers who took advantage of the course's fast play.

The tournament is a 54-hole, par 71 hole three-day event. There is also a 36-hole aspect to the tournament.

The winner will walk away with US$1,000, while the other positions will take home specially made Lignum Vitae-produced trophies.

The tournament attracted sponsorship from Jamaica National and jck consulting group.
