Upbeat Windies fly in

Coach Ottis Gibson expects another sterling performance from the West Indies in tomorrow's final one-day international match against India at Sabina Park.

Gibson, who flew into the island yesterday along with the full West Indies squad, said they will be doing all they can to end the series on a winning note.

"We may have lost the one-day series, but as in the last game (on Monday) which we won, we still want to come off the series on a high," said Gibson, shortly after the team's arrival here yesterday.

He added: "We might be struggling a bit right now, but it is a work in progress, and our intention is to continue to work hard on trying to find the right combinations as heading into the Test series we are looking to turn things around."

Two changes

The West Indies, in a bid to end the Digicel Pearls on-day international series 3-2, have made two changes to their 13-man squad.

The selectors have brought in opener Adrian Barath, who suffered an injury and has been out since the ICC World Cup in the Indian subcontinent earlier this year, and fast bowler Ravi Rampaul, who was rested for Monday's fourth game of the series in Antigua and Barbuda.

They have replaced openers Danza Hyatt and Kirk Edwards, who at different stages of the series have failed to impress.

Tomorrow's game is slated to get under way at 9:00 a.m. and chief groundsman for Sabina Park, Charlie Joseph, has already promised a pitch with more bounce than the teams have played on so far in the eastern Caribbean and Guyana.

"I expect us to have a wicket that bounces more than the ones that we have seen in the eastern Caribbean," Joseph told The Gleaner on Sunday.

"We have always dedicated ourselves to producing hard, true pitches that are good for both batsmen and bowlers alike, and despite losing a couple days due to rain, I expect us to meet our aim," he added.

India also came in on the same flight, which was a charter courtesy of the new regional airline, RedJet.

The first Test, which will see the return of India's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, vice-captain Venkatsai Laxman and veteran Rahul Dravid will also be played at Sabina Park from Monday, June 20 to Friday, June 24.
