Wesley Brown, with a four under 68, led the way after day one of the National Trials to determine Jamaica's golfing team to the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
The trials is being held at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Montego Bay while the Caribbean Championships is scheduled to take place at the Millennium Lakes Golf Course in Trinidad and Tobago from July 31 to August 7.
Cinnamon Hill-based player, Sean Morris, was six strokes back in second while Fabian Campbell and Ritz-Carlton-based Keith Stein both shot 77 to finish tied in third.
In the seniors, Robert Chin is in front after the opening round with 80, to lead the Seniors. Bert Tomlinson shot 87 for second while Greg Chong is currently in third position with 88.
Veteran golfer Dennis Atkinson is ahead in the Super Senior category with 77. Fred Sutherland is three shots behind on 80 while Philip Wilson and Lincoln William are tied in third.
Leiza Blakeley is in front in the ladies' section with 88, one shot ahead of junior golfer Rochell Prince. Michele Gabay is in third position with 91.
The second round of the trials tees off today at 8 a.m.
