Junior tennis gets $1.6m sponsorship

PanCaribbean Bank (PCB) announced the sponsorship of the All Jamaica Junior Tennis Championships to the tune of $1.6 million at a press briefing held yesterday at the Altamont Court Hotel in New Kingston.
This is the sixth year that PCB will be sponsoring the event, and Managing Director Philip Armstrong says he believes in the continued partnership.
"Sports is a priority target area for PanCaribbean as we strive to contribute to the development of young persons in Jamaica," Armstrong said. "Tennis is known for promoting discipline, self-motivation and excellence in children."
He added: "PanCaribbean Bank is investing in so much more than a sporting tournament. Our pro-motion of this event assists with the development of well-rounded citizens."
Appreciation
Aubyn Hill, Tennis Jamaica's president, expressed his sincere appreciation to PCB for its on-going support of the junior tournament.
"It is meaningful support like this that greatly assists Tennis Jamaica in trying to meet one of its primary objectives, which is to provide keen and healthy competition for Jamaica's young developing players," Hill said.
The PanCaribbean Bank All Jamaica Junior Tennis Champion-ships is scheduled for July 6-19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. More than 100 players will compete in the boys' and girls' Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 categories. Matches will be played at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.
