The Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts (PSCCA) at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona recently organised a performance to show appreciation to the main sponsors responsible for refurbishing the theatre.

The Centre recognised the CHASE Fund, Palace Amusement Company, Anthony and Linda Gambrill and architect, Michael Lorde for their contributions to the refurbishing effort.

The audience was treated to solo performances by the University Chorale, the University Players and the University Dance Society as well as selections from the University Singers and the UWI Panoridim Steel Orchestra.

The PSCCA has benefited from extensive work to the facility which includes the replacement of the main stage and flooring of the theatre auditorium, as well as the replacement of seats, painting and refurbishment of dressing rooms and public bathroom facilities. A new cyclorama (the backdrop at the rear of the stage) was also installed as well as new gantries for rigging the theatre lights.

The Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts is considered the cultural centre for the UWI, Mona campus, providing an enriched cultural life for the campus and the community.
