Double keeps Maragh sixth

ELMONT, New York (CMC):Rajiv Maragh cemented his place in the top-10 jockeys on Wednesday's nine-race, midweek card at Belmont Park.

The Jamaican jockey now has 21 wins for the summer season and is sixth in the standings, currently headed by Javier Castellano with 55.

Maragh captured the US $19,000 second race going 1600 metres on the dirt, aboard the 9-5 chance Make My Move by a neck.

He patiently perched Make My Move three wide off the pace dispute, before allowing the three-year-old chestnut gelding to live up to his name approaching the quarter pole.

Make My Move went down the lane head to head with Pure Kraft, under Jose Lezcano, and grabbed the lead in the late stages to just get up for a time of one minute, 38.84 seconds.

Maragh later copped the US $41,000 fifth race over 1400m, astride the 5-2 favourite E Z Passer by half length.

He put E Z Passer to race along the outside under a prolonged drive and gained steadily on the front runners during the run through the furlong grounds.

Maragh got the four-year-old bay filly to the front in the final 70 yards and edged clear for a time of one minute, 23.29 seconds.
