The Kiwanis Club of North St Andrew (KCNSA) has planned Retro Fest 2011 in aid of several volunteer projects and charities

Past president Norman Wright and public relations committee chairman Clement Forrester are coordinators of the event. Retro Fest 2011 takes place on Sunday, July 31 at Cuddy'z Sports Bar and Restaurant, New Kingston, which is a sponsor and partner with KCNSA.

The club's volunteer projects include renovation of children's homes, youth leadership programmes from the primary to tertiary levels, leadership camps and the Meals on Wheels programme, as well as other feeding programmes.

According to Forrester, these are normally funded by corporate entities, members of the club and other benefactors. "We have been hampered in recent years by a reduction in donations due to the downturn in the economy," he stated in a press release.

The KCNSA urges all to come out and help them to improve the world one child, one community at a time.

The 'fun-raising' event will feature two of the best retro DJs, Stokey Love and Mix Master Marvin. Patrons are invited to dress as retro as they dare to win spot prizes. The party gets under way at 8 p.m., with food and drink specials up to 10 p.m.

Presold tickets cost $800 and will be available at Cuddy'z, Monarch Pharmacy and Total Gas Station at Half Way-Tree (across from the Transport Centre); the corner of Stanton Terrace on Hope Road, Waltham Park Road and Hagley Park Road.
