Issue: Time to take action against metal thieves

THE EDITOR, Sir:
Persons have been crying out for the Government to shut down the scrap-metal industry. Yes, shut it down, because persons can see their possessions, like the grilles of their homes or motor vehicles, being stolen.
But when we do that, legitimate business owners would find themselves out of business. The rails of the bridge near the Church of the Open Bible on Washington Boulevard were stolen some time ago.
The Government needs to put some form of mechanism in place, with the help of the public, of course, because soon and very soon such things like the metal utility poles will be gone. This sort of thing cannot be allowed to continue.
