Denroy Morgan is a happy man. Tonight, he will symbolically pass the torch to his son, Laza, singer of the international smash hit, One By One, as the two set St Andrew ablaze with performances at Studio 38.

"Laza has shown that he has the ability to reap commercial success, just the way I did in the '70s," said Morgan about his son.

Morgan is proud of all his children, including the famous Morgan Heritage clan, which includes the likes of Gramps and Una Morgan, but he believes that Laza has that special commercial potential, which makes a critical difference to a musical career.

Denroy set the world alight in the 1970s with worldwide No. 1 hits like I'll Do Anything For You. Over the years, he has successfully nurtured the careers of his famous children, but will be particularly proud to perform ahead of, but on the same bill as Laza tonight.

Both father and son will do extended performances with Laza's set to also include hits such as This Girl and Wiggle.

Patrons will have a unique opportunity to not only witness the passing of this musical torch, but also to see Laza perform for the first time at home and to enjoy Denroy's first performance in Jamaica in a very long time.

The actual performances start promptly at 9 p.m. Tickets are $1,000.

Laza's musical career began when he was part of the musical group LMS. However, his rise to fame began in 2010 when those two singles, Wiggle and This Girl, were featured in the popular dance movie, Step Up 3D. The songs' infectious beats, unique genre synergies and the distinctive sound of Laza's voice (often compared to another US-based Jamaican superstar, Sean Kingston) poises the artiste for even greater success in the future.

Denroy Morgan has fathered a musical dynasty which continues to evolve and to break barriers in the industry. His albums, and the work of his children, have found both local and international success due to their uplifting messages and appealing melodies.

Denroy Morgan was born in May Pen, Clarendon, in 1947. In 1965, he left Jamaica to pursue a musical career in the United States, where he collaborated with Devon 'Igo Levi' Foster and Llewellyn 'Jah T' Breadwood in 1974 to create the Black Eagles. The Black Eagles enjoyed popularity and success on an international level.

This success culminated in 1977 when the Black Eagles won the New York Reggae Music Festival, putting them on the international map. This status poised Denroy Morgan to take the world by storm with his solo career.

In 1984, he did just that by signing to RCA records. His hit singles I'll Do Anything For You, Make My Day and Happy Feeling, among others, have cemented him as a beloved and irreplaceable icon in Jamaican music.
