Jamaica, Bahamas remain unbeaten

Jamaica marched to their second win of the Caribbean Basketball Championships when they clobbered Guyana 75-43 on day three of competition here Monday night.

Using an 18-point effort from Garfield Blair, Jamaica stormed to an early lead before cruising down the stretch to remain unbeaten in the tournament.

Blair shot 86 per cent from the field and was three-of-three from the line, to lead the dominant Jamaicans who opened their campaign on Saturday with a win over Antigua and Barbuda.

Ryan Reid had a strong game, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

For Guyana, Rodwell Fortune was the high man with 14 points while Dwayne Roberts chipped in with 11 points.

Jamaica threw around their weight in the first quarter for a 21-5 lead and had extended their advantage to 44-24 at half-time.

Hosts Bahamas also remained unbeaten, rattling off their third successive win with a 106-58 annihilation of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

They were led by Jaraun Burrows who poured in 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Michael Bain supported with 18 points.
