Royal Plantation lead the way

Sandals Royal Plantation surged to the top of the Sandals St Ann, St Mary Business House Football League with a dramatic 1-0 win over highly fancied Golden Eye Villas at Drax Hall on Monday.

Christopher Benjamin scored the all-important first-half goal to move Sandals Royal Plantation to six points from two matches, after downing Dolphin Cove 6-3 in an earlier encounter.

The game started off at a fast pace with the slick- moving Golden Eye dominating the early exchange. However, Sandals Royal Plantation gradually settled and counter-attacked on the wings. Benjamin proved to be a handful for the Golden Eye defence, and found the crucial goal from a neat strike.

Golden Eye pressed for the equaliser in the second half, going on all-out attack, but could not pierce the well-organised Royal Plantation backline.

Elsewhere on Monday, National Water Commission (NWC) and Royal DeCameron played to an exciting 1-1 draw in their encounter at the Noranda field. The draw took NWC to four points, having won their opening match 5-0 over All Banks United.

Matches continue on Thursday with Marksman Sports Club tackling Couples Sans Souci at Drax Hall at 3 p.m., while Beaches Boscobel meet Golden Eye Villas at 5 p.m. in the feature encounter at the same venue.

The league has featured some attractive and exciting action, with 38 goals scored in 11matches.

Defending champions Noranda Bauxite lead Zone B with six points and remain the team to beat.
