• LIME beat NHT on faster run rate

High-riding LIME defeated NHT on a faster run rate in their rain-affected Reggae Jammin Business House 50-over league cricket match at Chalmers Avenue on Sunday to maintain their lead in the competition.

Batting first, LIME were bowled out for 218 off 49.2 overs - Damion Jacobs 39, national player Horace Miller 35, Ryan Francis 29, Carlos Green 26; Nkrumah Bonner 3-44, Shawn Lee Earle 2-37. NHT reached 83 for two in the 23rd over when the showers arrived - Shacoya Thomas 43, Lawaune Smalling 24.

AT SPRING VILLAGE: The match between defending champions Jamaica Broilers and Sagicor was rained out in mid-afternoon, but not before Sagicor had made 116 with Fitzroy Brian and Aaron Daley Jr taking four and three wickets, respectively. Broilers were 33 for two when the rains came and both teams have earned a point for the drawn match.

AT MONA: NWC defeated JUTC by seven wickets. JUTC 92 all out off 24.4 overs - O. Stephenson 24; Duran Whyte 4-9, Carlos Francis 2-28. NWC 94 for three - Chris Senior 27, Domain Wilson 23, R. Francis 2-4.

AT RED STRIPE OVAL: Jamalco beat Red Stripe on a faster run rate in a match curtailed by rain. Jamalco 231 off 46 overs - Winston 'Sala' Osbourne 61, Marcel Parchment 34, Dwayne Bennett 24, Richard Allen 3-41, Arlington Whittick 2-20. Red Stripe 80 for five - Wayne Cuff 26 not out, Allen 19, Errol Thomas 3-40.

AT JAMAICA COLLEGE: Continental Baking Company beat Digicel by 58 runs in a notable upset. Continental 107 - Junior Blackwood 17, Damion Foster 16, Shamar Anderson 3-30, Steve Logan 2-5. Digicel, playing three short - 43 for seven, Otis Bingham taking 4-15, Damion Foster 3-12.

The Reggae Jammin 50-over league continues tomorrow with five matches scheduled. These are Jamalco vs cup holders Jamaica Broilers at Jamalco, Digicel vs LIME at Kensington Park, JUTC vs NHT at Dela Vega Community Centre, Sagicor vs NWC at Chalmers Avenue and Red Stripe vs Continental Baking Company at Red Stripe Oval, Spanish Town Road.

• Business House Cricket AGM

The annual general meeting of the Business House Cricket Board is scheduled to be held on Monday, September 5, at Cable & Wireless Sports Club, Chalmers Avenue, starting at 6:30.

The main item on the agenda will be the election of officers, but indications are that the sitting president, Cosmo Grant, will be returned unopposed for a sixth consecutive term.

• SDC, Kingston Wharves are BH domino champs

Defending champions Social Development Commission (SDC) retained the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Business House Division I domino title at Jacisera Park on Friday, August 12 when they defeated Jamaica Brandy 140-111 in the final.

In the Division II final played at the same venue, Kingston Wharves beat NCB 150-112 to win the title in this their first year in Business House domino.

Kingston Wharves, who led by seven points at half-time, were spearheaded by top pair Basil Simms and Michael Dawkins, with Paul Griffiths and Everton Thomas offering good support.

SDC, meanwhile, led by 16 points at half-time and proceeded to assert their authority after the interval to whip Brandy by 29 points. Top pair for the returning champions was Courtney Nash and Destry Miller. The team was captained by Andre McCarthy for the second consecutive year.

Since being promoted to Division I after being runners-up in Division II in 2009, SDC have won back-to-back Division I titles. Although based at Camp Road near the Gun Court in Kingston, McCarthy said the team comprises players from across the island.

In the Division I playoff for third, Wray & Nephew Rums defeated The Gleaner Company. The presentation of trophies and prize money won by the top teams will be made at a special function at a date and venue to be announced by the National Association of Domino Bodies, organisers of the competition.

• Wray & Nephew skittles final tomorrow

Defending champions Eagles will meet Willies Strikers in the final of the Wray & Nephew White Overproof skittles competition tomorrow at Bejon's Sports Bar, Hughenden Plaza.

Prior to the final, action will commence at 1 p.m. with the third place playoff between losing semi-finalists Starliner and Mister C. Eliminations in the men's singles championships will continue at the same venue, after which Eagles and Willies will meet in the final at around 5 p.m.

Although Eagles are considered favourites, especially playing at their home base, many-time singles champion Robert 'World Man' McKen of Eagles said they cannot be taken lightly after beating one of the elite teams, Starliner 6-4, coming from two games down, in last Sunday's semi-final at the JPS Sports Club, Ruthven Road. In the other semi-final, Eagles outclassed Mister C 6-2.

Eagles will look to top players McKen, Clinton 'Fly Up' Thompson (captain), Leslie 'Toothpick' Puranda, Dane Jones, Rudolph 'Niah' Mullings and Emmanuel Munda to repeat last year's success.

Former singles champion Winston 'Wimpy' Lyew, the MVP for the competition, will spearhead Willies' bid for victory. He will look for support from Frederick Cooper (captain), Karyl 'Chassy' Walker, Paul Latchman and Donovan Brooks.

• Business House quarter-finals today

Gleaner will meet Wray & Nephew in one of two quarter-final matches today in the Scotiabank Group-sponsored Business House KO football competition at Chalmers Avenue, starting at 3:30 p.m.

In the other quarter-final, Grace Kennedy will oppose Norman Manley International Airport (NWIA) at Bull Pen also at 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Scotiabank advanced to the semi-final round last Sunday when they defeated league champions Petrojam 3-1 in quarter-final action at Tinson Pen.

Akeeli Martin got a brace for Scotiabank after netting in the fifth and 76th minutes, while Nicholas McCreath scored in the 68th minute. Ricardo Munroe got the consolation goal for Petrojam in the 69th minute.

Scotia will meet the winners of the Grace vs NWIA match in one semi-final, while NHT, who knocked out the defending champions Wisynco, will meet the winners of the Gleaner vs Wray & Nephew match in the other semi-final.

Meanwhile, the KSAFA/Western Sports Division I league semis gets under way on Tuesday, while the Division II teams will meet on Wednesday.

Wisynco will oppose Petrojam at Great House Boulevard and NWC will meet Carib Cement at the Red Stripe Oval in Division I semis on Tuesday starting at 3:30 p.m. In Division II, Jamaica Customs will face Jamaica Fire Brigade at Red Stripe Oval, while NHT will take on Red Stripe at Great House Boulevard, also at 3:30 p.m.

• Albion, Old Harbour Bay clash in final

Albion United and Old Harbour Bay clash in the final of the St Catherine FA Under-17 football league at the Prison Oval today. Match time is 3 p.m.

Albion won 3-2 on penalties over McCook's Pen on Thursday in their semi-final match, after both teams were locked 1-1 after regulation and extra-time. Jovanne Parker (31st) first put McCook's Pen in the lead, but Tevin Brown (45th), forced extra-time. Nico Morris, Irvin Reid and Kevon Nembhard scored penalty kicks for Albion, while Okema Brown and Stephan Parkinson scored penalties for McCook's Pen. In the other semi-final, favourites Old Harbour Bay came from behind to boot Black Lion 2-1. Nikeno Campbell (73rd) and Kamar Myers (110th) scored for Old Harbour Bay, while Jamie Hall (27th) scored for Black Lion. This final is significant to the Old Harbour Bay community as they are going for their third title of the season. They have already snatched the Division II and the St Catherine FA Under-15 crowns and the Under-17 title will cap a memorable year for the club.

• Colours vs Bridgeview

Defending champions Colours International will open their season in the Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum Portmore Cricket League against last year's surprise team, Bridgeview, at the Hamilton Gardens ground, tomorrow. Colours with big hitters Robert Weir and Delroy Morgan in their line-up will give the Bridgeview team all that they can handle. In other matches Reid's Pen take on Washington CC at the Bridgeport Sports ground while Portsmouth entertain Portmore Pines at the Portsmouth ground. All matches begin at 11:00 a.m. In last week's opening game, Ken's Wildflower led by Junior Stewart's top score of 68, defeated Belmont by 23 runs. Wayne Gayle top scored for Belmont with 45.

• Fagan Domino League on tomorrow

The Colin Fagan-sponsored South East St Catherine community domino league continues tomorrow with four matches.

Ken's Wildflower and Waterford, who won their opening games two weeks ago, go head-to-head in a feature match of the round at Ken's Wildflower Restaurant and Lounge. In other games, 2008 champs Passagefort United, still hurting from a countdown-loss to Ken's in their last outing, face-off against Westchester Nuckuz at Westchester. Portsmouth United welcome Garveymeade at the Portsmouth Community Centre, while Rising Sun host Cumberland at the Independence City Plaza.

• History beckons for Bridgeport

Bridgeport FC will this afternoon hunt their first hold on the Pines Imaging Centre trophy when they tackle Rodwood United in the Portmore Under-17 football league final at the Ferdie Neita Park in Braeton at 3 p.m.

In semi-final action on Thursday, Bridgeport dethroned Wanderers 4-2 on penalties, after both teams were locked 1-1 after regulation and extra-time. Samar Rowe gave Wanderers a dream start in the 19th minute but Chevaughn Brown equalised in the 55th minute. Paul McAnuff, Leon McLean, Martell Kerr, and Brown scored their penalties for Bridgeport while Rowe and Ryan Swire netted their penalty kicks for Wanderers. Rodwood ended Portmore's dream of making a third straight final, as Romel Wright's terrific 82nd-minute strike sent the Waterford-based club into their second final.

Preceding the Under-17 final is the Colin Fagan-sponsored Under-15 final which will pit defending champions Portmore United against Cumberland at 1 p.m.

• Cobbla New Testament Church League

The quarterfinal round in the New Testament Church of God Cobbla Church football league starts tomorrow.

The two games on are: Spring Ground vs Christiana Strikers at 2 p.m. and Gully Strikers vs West Road at 4 p.m.

Next weekend will see the final two games with Roose Madrid vs Napoli at 2 p.m. and George North against Church United.

Last weekend saw the completion of the preliminary round and the confirmation of the last two quarter-final spots. Napoli secured their spot defeating Lazio 4-1 while West Road defeated Church United 1-0.

This weekend's activities will kick-off today at the Cobbla Ground with the annual New Testament Church of God sports day.

• Lloyd Plummer Memorial League

Street Side and Little Brazil will contest the inaugural final of the INSPORTS Lloyd Plummer Memorial League later today at West Park field in Clarendon.

Street Side booked their passage to the final on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over West Park. The crucial goal was scored in the 27th minute by Jermaine Christian.

Little Brazil secured their place after beating Bushy Park 5-4 on penalties. The two had battled to a 2-2 draw after regulation and extra time. Bushy Park actually surrendered the lead twice. Jeffrey Baker scored in the 14th minute to give Bushy Park a 1-0 lead. Andre Allen equalised for Little Brazil in the 34th minute before Dwayne Dunk re-established Bushy Park's lead in the 53rd minute.

Bushy Park looked set on a final spot until Odane Brown broke their hearts when he scored three minutes from time.

Bushy Park and West Park will meet in the third-place play-off scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

• Clarendon Business House football

Moby's ended the six-match unbeaten run of former champions Young's Pharmacy when they outscored them 5-4 to highlight mid-week action in Clarendon Business House football competition.

Young's had moved to 18 points on Sunday when they were handed three points after NHT failed to show. A win was expected for Young's in that matchup in any case, since NHT had lost their previous four matches, scoring just a single goal while conceding 16.

However, despite Moby's upset win, Young's Pharmacy are still leaders in Zone B. They are ahead by two over Sinclair's Bargain Centre (16 pts). Moby's are on 14 points from seven games.

Epic Hardware continue to lead all challengers in Zone A knocking over Jamaica National 3-0 for their fifth straight win last Sunday. Jamaica National, like NHT, are having a rough time this season getting just a point from an earlier 0-0 draw while scoring 13 goals in their five games.

In selected results this week, Sinclair's registered the highest margin of victory taking apart Parts-a-Lot 5-0. NWC defeated Stewarts Hardware 3-0, Digital got the better of Unique Barbers 2-1, National edged Police 1-0 while Stop Light outscored Park View 3-2.

CAPTION: Members of Melbourne Cricket Club's annual summer camp look on during Monday's launch of the camp at the club. The camp, which has been going on since 1985 and has seen West Indies players such as Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Nikita Miller and Carlton Baugh Jr taking part, is being conducted under the supervision of Mikey Thompson, Hugh Hinds and Glendon Coke.
